- Nebraska clinches the series with tonight's and will have a chance at a sweep when the two teams play on Sunday afternoon. The Huskers now lead the all-time series 16-11.
- Texas Tech walked 10 batters on the evening and three of Nebraska's runs came on walked batters.
- The Red Raiders out hit Nebraska 5-3 and suffered just its fourth loss of the season when totaling more hits than an opponent (24-4).
- Texas Tech honored nine senior players and three student assistants in a pre-game ceremony. The Nebraska series marks Tech's final home series of the season.
- Tonight's loss to Nebraska ensures that Tech will finish below .500 in Big 12 play for just the second time since the league's inception back in 1997. Tech finished 8-18 in 2003 and did not qualify for the Big 12 Tournament.
