
Softball Heads to Oklahoma City for Big 12 Tournament

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Red Raiders are headed to Oklahoma City to participate in the Big 12 Softball Tournament at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, May 11-14. Tech will go in as the No. 9 seed of the tournament and face No. 8 seed Oklahoma State in a play-in game on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The winner will move onto the double elimination portion of the tournament and will take on No. 1 seed Texas A&M. Tech finished regular season play 23-24 overall and 3-15 in Big 12.
Wrapping up the season, freshman Jennifer Corkin leads the Red Raiders at the plate with a batting average of .291 as she has 11 doubles, one triple and five homeruns, while knocking in 35 runs. The pitching staff was led by freshman Sarah Losleben as she posted an ERA of 3.87 and a record of 8-2. Losleben gave up 81 hits while striking out 77 batters and walking 26. Junior Erin Crawford led the pitching staff in wins as she posted an ERA of 3.93 with a record of 14-11. Crawford gave up 130 hits while striking out 105 batters and walking 32.
Oklahoma State comes into the tournament 32-30 overall and 7-11 in Big 12. Earlier this season, Oklahoma State rallied past Texas Tech to sweep in a Tuesday evening doubleheader in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Cowgirls won the first game 8-0 and the second game with a score of 9-8.
