LUBBOCK, Texas - With a little over three weeks remaining before the first kickoff, Texas Tech officials announced today that season ticket sales for the 2005 football season have shattered last season's record total. Tech sold 36,839 season tickets for the 2004 campaign.
As of Wednesday morning, the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office said 39,020 season tickets have been sold for the upcoming season and that eclipsing the 40,000 plateau is a possibility.
"The ticket office is confident we can get to the 40,000 mark," Assistant AD/Ticket Operations Dave Welsh said. "Our fans have continually provided us tremendous support. All of West Texas is fired up about the Red Raiders!"
Additionally, under a 1,000 of the ever-popular $99 season tickets remain. The $99 season ticket includes all seven Texas Tech home games this season, including the Nov. 5 matchup with Texas A&M. Single-game tickets for the Texas A&M game won't be available until they go on sale on-line Sept. 25. However, Tech fans can get a jump start on the $75 A&M ticket by purchasing season tickets.
Single-game tickets for the other six home games are currently on sale. Prices for the Florida International, Sam Houston State and Indiana State games are $40 for chairbacks and $20 for bench seats. Kansas and Kansas State tickets will cost $50 chairback and $25 bench, while all seats for the Oklahoma game are $65.
Fans can purchase tickets through area Select-A-Seat outlets, including United Supermarket stores, and the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office, which operates 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
