Red Raiders Debut In ESPN/Coaches Pre-Season Top 25

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders debuted at No. 21 in the ESPN/Coaches Pre-Season Top 25 poll that was released earlier today and marks a first in the Mike Leach era.
The Red Raiders, fresh off a 45-31 win over then fourth-ranked California in the 2004 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl, are one of four Big 12 teams that earned pre-season rankings from the coach's poll. Coincidentally, all four teams are from the South Division and three come from the state of Texas.
The Texas Longhorns are the highest rated Big 12 team at No. 2 while Oklahoma comes in at No. 5 and Texas A&M at No. 17. Texas Tech will face both Oklahoma and Texas A&M at Jones SBC Stadium this season and tickets for those games will go on sale soon.
