Volleyball Set to Face Kansas State

Lubbock, Texas- The Texas Tech volleyball team (6-4, Big 12 0-1) will head to Manhattan, Kan., to face the No. 22 Kansas State Wildcats, Sat., Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. Live stats can be found at www.k-statesports.com.
Tech, battling a two-match losing, is looking for its first conference victory of the season. The Red Raiders lost their conference opener to Baylor, 3-1, at the United Spirit Arena. Philister Sang and Amy Charlebois led the offense with 13 kills each. Sang also recorded 11 digs to register her fifth double-double of the season. Emily Ziegler and Holly Hicks directed the offense with 24 and 18 assists, respectively. Ziegler also led the team with four aces. Desiree Batista recorded 19 digs. Brianna Florus led the team with six total blocks, one solo and five assisted.
Kansas State has opened their season at 9-1, with their one loss coming at the hands of no. 5 Minnesota. The Wildcats swept Oklahoma in their conference opener. The Purple and White were picked to finish sixth in the Big 12 after finishing the 2004 campaign in the fifth slot with a national ranking of no. 23.
At the last meeting between the two teams, the Red Raiders upset no. 20 Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., Nov. 21, 2004, in front of 1,724 fans at the Ahearn Field House; Tech's first win on the Wildcats' home court. The Red Raiders fell behind after losing the first two games, but rallied to stun the Wildcats in the final three games to pull off the upset.
