The Texas Tech Red Raiders travel to Norman, Oklahoma for Saturday's game against the Oklahoma Sooners.
The game will be televised on ABC at Noon. Dan Shulman will call the play-by-play. Dick Vitale will provide the game analysis.
John Harris will provide the courtside action along with Mike Roberts as analyst on the Texas Tech Sports Network (KKAM 1340 AM / KQBR 99.5 FM).
This will be the 38th meeting between the Red Raiders and the Sooners since the series began on December 27, 1944. Overall, Oklahoma leads the series 22-15. Texas Tech leads the series 9-7 in Lubbock. Oklahoma has a 13-5 margin in Norman and a 2-1 advantage on neutral courts.
Last season, the teams met three times. Texas Tech won in Norman (88-81) on February 5. It was the first Tech win in Norman since 1998. On March 5, the Sooners won in Lubbock 74-54. The teams met in the Big 12 Tournament on March 12 in the semi-finals. The #4-seeded Red Raiders defeated the #1-seeded Sooners, 69-63.
The Red Raiders are 10-8 for the 2005-2006 season and 2-2 in Big 12 play. The Raiders defeated the Iowa State Cyclones 76-73 on January 14 at the United Spirit Arena before dropping their road game at Texas 80-46.
Jarrius Jackson led the both teams in scoring with 21 points. Jay was 6-of-10 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point territory, and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Martin Zeno scored 13 points for the Raiders.
Texas Tech has two players averaging double figures for the season with Jarrius Jackson averaging 19.3 points per game and Martin Zeno scoring 16.4 points per game. After eighteen games, the Raiders are averaging 70.7 points per game while their opponents are scoring 67.4 points per game.
The Sooners are 10-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play for the 2005-2006 season. OU lost at Nebraska in their conference opener, 59-58 and then lost to Missouri at home, 71-69 on January 10. The Sooners won their most recent game by one point (45-44) at Texas A&M on January 14.
Oklahoma has four players averaging double figures in Taj Gray (15.3 ppg), Kevin Bookout (12.4 ppg), Terrell Everett (10.8 ppg), and Michael Neal (10.1 ppg). The Sooners are scoring 66.9 ppg and allowing their opponents 60.1 ppg.
The Red Raiders continue Big 12 Conference play at the United Spirit Arena against Oklahoma State on Saturday, January 28. The game will be televised on ESPN-Regional and will begin at 12:30 PM.
The Big 12 Conference is celebrating its Tenth Anniversary of athletic competition during the 2005-06 season. In an effort to recognize this milestone, the conference and its member schools are selecting special 10th anniversary teams for all sports. In certain sports, including men's and women's basketball, the Big 12 is asking its fans to vote via the league web site for student-athletes they feel should be honored on anniversary teams as part of the celebration.
On-line voting for the Big 12 Conference's 10th Anniversary men and women's basketball teams began on Saturday, January 7. Voting is open to all fans and will end on February 2.

Coach Bob Knight (Ohio State, 1962) enters his fifth season at the helm of the Raider program and has notched four consecutive 20+ wins in Lubbock. In 39 seasons of coaching, he has taken his teams to post-season play 36 times. Coach Knight numbers third among all coaches on the all-time career wins list with 863 victories. He is the youngest of the four coaches (Dean Smith-879, Adolph Rupp-876, Bob Knight-864, and Jim Phelan-830) and the only active coach to reach that remarkable plateau of 800 career victories.
