
Polk Honored by the Big 12

Lubbock, Texas - Texas Tech senior Tori Polk, of the women's track and field team, was named Big 12 Athlete of the Week for her efforts, it was announced by the conference today. This is the second time a Red Raider has been honored this season.
Polk won the long jump at the New Mexico Invite with a leap of 21'-2.75", a new personal best, school record and NCAA automatic qualifying mark. Polk replaced her previous school record of 19'-11.5", set at the 2005 Indoor Big 12 Championships. She leads the Big 12 Conference by almost a foot and is second in the nation.
Polk also anchored the women's 4x400M to a first-place finish with a clocking of 3:43.90.
The Hewitt, Texas native was a 2005 Outdoor All-American in the long jump, finishing in sixth place, and was also honored as an All-American in the indoor and outdoor 4x400M in 2004. Polk finished in fourth place in the long jump at the 2005 Indoor Big 12 Championships.
