Lubbock, Texas - No. 23 Texas Tech men's tennis fell at TCU, 6-1, in Fort Worth, on Friday. The squad is now sitting at 3-1 on the season.
In doubles action, at No. 1, Adrian Prpic and Christian Rojmar cruised past Rafael Abreu and Jacopo Tezza, 8-3. At No. 2, Teddy DiBlasi and Sinisa Markovic fell to Kriegler Brink and Jordan Freitas, 8-5. At No. 3, Michael Breler and Mario Janjic fell to Cosmin Cotet and Radu Barbu, 8-4.
In singles action, at No. 1, Prpic fell to Abreu, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. At No. 2, Rojmar fell to Andrei Mlendea, 6-4, 6-2. At No. 3, Breler topped Cotet, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. At No. 4, Tezza edged Markovic, 7-5, 2-6, 10-2. At No. 5, Barbu defeated DiBlasi, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 6, Brink beat Janjic, 6-4, 6-3.
"I was really happy with the way we played today, especially because we played without Dimitrio Martinez," said head coach Tim Siegel. "It was a good effort by both teams and the top four matches could have gone either way. Our team has been showing a lot of progress."
Tech's match against No. 30 San Diego, originally schedule for 12 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 18, has been moved to 4 p.m. to the TCU Indoor Facility.
