Bowers Leads Tech Softball to Win Over No. 15 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla - Sophomore second baseman Jennifer Bowers connected on her team-leading sixth and seventh home runs and drove in all four runs of a 4-2 Texas Tech softball victory over No. 15 Oklahoma in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday night at the OU Softball Complex.
Bowers put Tech up 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning as she slammed her team-leading sixth home run of the season, a three-run shot over the wall in right field.
The Sooners responded in the home half of the inning, scoring a run on a RBI single by designated player Samantha Ricketts. In the bottom of the fifth, OU continued the comeback, cutting the Tech lead to 3-2 on a runs-scoring double by centerfielder Amber Spaulding.
Bowers made the score 4-2 in the top of the sixth inning when she connected on her second home run of the game, a high arching solo shot over the wall is left field.
Senior pitcher Julie Hauck entered the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with two runners on base and only one out. The Yukon, Okla., native worked her way out of a bases-loaded one out jam.
Tech starter Erin Crawford (7-9) picked up the win, tossing 4 and 2/3 innings allowing only two runs on six hits.
