Dimitrio Martinez Honored by the Big 12

Lubbock, Texas - Dimitrio Martinez has been named the Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office. The awards are the first in Big 12 tennis for the 2006 spring season. Martinez had a 2-0 singles record this weekend as the Red Raiders went 2-1 at the HEB Invitational.
Martinez helped the Red Raiders to two wins at the HEB Invitational, including an upset of No. 37 Middle Tennessee State. The junior went 2-0 on the weekend, playing at No. 2 singles. He clinched the victory over MTSU with a 5-7, 7-6, 6-1 victory. He also had a 7-5, 6-0 tally against Louisville and combined with Michael Breler for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles versus Western Michigan.
Next up for the Red Raiders will be the Blue-Grey Invitational, in Montgomery, Ala., March 16-19.
