RED RAIDERS HOST KANSAS STATE AT DAN LAW FIELD
Texas Tech will look to get back into contention in the Big 12 Conference race this weekend as the Red Raiders host the Kansas State Wildcats in a crucial three-game series. Texas Tech and Kansas State agreed to play this series Thursday-Saturday so that a game will not have to be played on Easter Sunday. First pitch on Thursday and Friday night's is set for 6:30 p.m. while Saturday's series finale has been moved up to 1 p.m. in order to accommodate KSU's travel plans back to Manhattan. There will be no television this weekend but all three games of the series will be carried live on the Texas Tech Sports Network and live video will be available through RaiderVision All-Access.
The weekend series is crucial for both clubs as Tech desperately needs a series win to stay in contention for an NCAA Regional while KSU needs wins to avoid being shutout of the Big 12 Tournament for the fourth straight year. The Red Raiders are currently seventh in the Big 12 standings with a 5-6 record after dropping a three-game series this past weekend at No. 24 Kansas. Depending on how things fall for the Red Raiders this weekend, Tech could climb as high as third in the league standings or fall as low as 10th.
The Red Raiders began a nine-game homestand on Tuesday against New Mexico and got off to a good start as Tech posted a 14-7 win over the Lobos. Tech is now 16-4 at Dan Law Field this season and has scored 14 runs in each of their last three contests at "The Law." Kansas State enters the weekend with an overall record of 22-8 and currently sit in 10th place in the Big 12 with a 2-7 record in league play. The Wildcats scored two runs in the top of the ninth to beat No. 22 Creighton on Tuesday night that snapped a three-game losing skid.
Tickets for the series are available through the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office.
