LUBBOCK, Texas - Looking to rebound from a couple of rough outings, the Texas Tech softball team returns to action tomorrow as it hosts the No. 2 Texas Longhorns in a doubleheader at Rocky Johnson Field. The first game of the twin bill is slated for a 4 p.m. first pitch.
The Red Raiders are coming off a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls raced out to an 8-0 victory in the opener before downing the Red Raiders in extra innings by a score of 4-2 in the night cap.
Sophomore catcher Jennifer Corkin and Junior Brandy Moulin accomplished a rare feat in the second game as the two players hit home runs in consecutive at bats to give Tech a short-lived 2-1 advantage. It is the second time this season that a pair of Red Raiders has connected on back-to-back long balls, the first coming on March 17 when outfielders Montana Patin and Whitney Riley slammed home runs in consecutive at bats.
The Longhorns enter the series with a 43-4 mark this season and a Big 12-leading 9-1 conference record. Senior pitcher Cat Osterman is a Player of the Year candidate with a record of 27-1 and an ERA of 0.34. Last season, Texas Tech and Texas split a two-game series in Austin.
