LUBBOCK, Texas - Game two in the series between No. 2 Texas and Texas Tech softball team has been cancelled into because of heavy rain in the Lubbock area. The game was stopped in the bottom of the fourth with the Longhorns leading the Red Raiders 4-3 and is not scheduled to be made up.
In the contest, which will not count toward either team's statistics this season, sophomore Jennifer Bowers connected on what would have been her team-leading seven home run of the season and junior centerfielder Ashley Parker chipped in with a two-run double.
The Longhorn took a 6-0 win in game one of twin bill, improving their record to 44-4 this season and their conference mark to 10-1. The Red Raiders, meanwhile, fall to 18-29 overall and 4-9 in Big 12 play.
Texas Tech softball is back in action this weekend as its host No. 15 Nebraska in a two-game series at Rocky Johnson Field.
