Kittley Adds Five for 2007

Lubbock, Texas - Track and field head coach Wes Kittley announced the signing of five student-athletes for the 2006-2007 season. Kittley's recruiting class is now at 16 during the national signing period.
Sandra Iwunze is a native of Houston and attends Westbury high school. She is the defending state 4A champ in the 300M hurdles and she is currently ranked No. 1 in the state. In 2005, she won the 300M hurdles in District 22-4A (44.40), Region III-4A (a new record of 44.16) and the state meet (43.12). She won District 22-4A this year in a 44.47 and was second in the 100M hurdles (14.36). Her state-leading time in the 300M hurdles earlier this year is a 41.86, one of the fastest times in the nation.
Sequoia McKinney is a native of Thornwood, Ill. She is the defending Illinois state champion in the 800M. She has a personal and season best of 2:09.08 and is one of the top ranked high school 800M runners in the nation. She also runs on the 4x200M and 4x400M relays for Thornwood high school.
Brett McDaniel is from Wall, Texas and throws the discus for the Wall high school. In 2005, he won District 2-2A with a toss of 161'-2", was second at the Region I-2A meet with a 166'-8" and was second at the 2A state championships with a throw of 163'-6". This year, he won the District 2-2A meet with a 153'-7".
Zach Plinario is from Richardson, Texas and attends J.J. Pearce high school. In 2005, he won the 110M and 300M hurdles in District 10-5A with times of 14.32 and 44.47, respectively. At the Region II-5A, he was second in the 300M hurdles with a 38.48 and third in the 110M hurdles with a 14.45. He then placed seventh at the 5A state meet in the 300M hurdles with a 38.24, his personal best. In 2006, he won the District 10-5A meet in both events with times of 14.20 and 38.78.
Brian Porter is a pole vaulter from Maypearl, Texas and attends Maypearl high school. He is the defending 2A state champ and is currently ranked fourth in the state. He has a personal best of 16'-4.75". He vaulted 16'-0" to win the Region II-2A meet in 2005, then won state with a 15'-9". This spring, he jumped 16'-4.75" to win the District 11-2A meet.
