Texas Tech set to host Masked Rider Open

The meet is one of two this season Tech will host in Lubbock
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech outdoor track and field team will host the one-day Masked Rider Open meet Thursday, one of two home meets this season. Originally a two-day meet set for Friday and Saturday, the event was moved up due to unfavorable weather forecasted this weekend.
The meet will commence Thursday morning at 10 a.m. beginning with the javelin, followed by the hammer, discus and shot put – all throws will be on a rolling schedule. The first running event will start at 5:00 p.m. – the 3k steeplechase.

Alyssa Colbert will make her 2026 debut – only had an outdoor season coming in – running in the 100m dash. Colbert has not competed since last March at the Texas Relays as she's been recovering from a hamstring injury. Fans will also see both the men's and women's teams' debut 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
Titus Kimaru will kickoff the running events for Tech in the 3k steeplechase – Kimaru as a freshman last season, punched a ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the event. In the 110m hurdles, newcomer Joel Nyatusah will make his Red Raider debut as he's the reigning NCAA DII National Champion in the event, coming over from Pittsburg State. Lovina Ewusi will get to run the 400m hurdles for the first time – she won the JUCO national title last season for Western Texas College with a PB 57.79.
