Tech Track Set for 79th Texas Relays

Lubbock, Texas - Texas Tech track and field will be competing in the 79th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, at the University of Texas, in Austin. The four-day event will be held at Mike A. Myers Stadium, April 5-8.
In this week's Trackwire25 poll, the Red Raider men have entered the outdoor season at No. 9 in the nation.
On the National Performance List, Andrae Williams is listed at fourth with a 20.88. Marlon Odom is No. 6 on the 110M hurdles list with a 13.75. On the 400M hurdles list, Bryan Scott is ninth with a 51.66. Bobby Evers has the second-best long jump mark in the country with a 25'-4.75". In the decathlon, Chad Andrews is seventh with 7,044 points.
In the Trackwire25 Dandy Dozen, Williams is ranked fourth in the 400M, Zach Glavash is listed at eighth in the 800M, Scott is eighth in the 400M hurdles and Sage Thames is No. 12 in the pole vault. Tech has three on the 110M hurdles list with Daryl Burgess at sixth, Odom at seventh and Shawon Harris at 10th. The men's 4x400M is ranked at No. 5, the highest of the Big 12 teams.
On the women's side, Misty Coley is ranked No. 11 in the high jump and Tori Polk is seated at No. 12 in the long jump.
Both the men's and women's sprint medley relays will be looking to defend their titles from the event in 2005. The sprint medley relay consists of two legs of 200M, a 400M leg and 800M leg. The women's relay won for the first time in 2005 while the men's relay, anchored by Olympian Jonathan Johnson, won the event 2002-2005. Zach Glavash will take over the reigns as anchor leg (800M) of the relay.
Lacy Wilson will also be looking to defend her title in the high jump. Wilson won the event in 2005 with a clearance of 5'-11.25".
Bobby Most is also a past champion in the pole vault. He won the event in 2003 with a height of 18'-0.5".
Last week at the UNLV Invite, the Red Raiders posted nine regional qualifying marks, including four that are the first of the season from select athletes.
Sabrina Taylor was the top collegiate finisher in the long jump with her first regional qualifying mark of the season, 19'-9.5". Evers won the men's long jump with the second-best mark in the nation, 25'-4.75", a regional qualifying jump and a new personal best.
Harris finished second in the 400M hurdles with his first regional qualifying mark of the season in the event, 51.80.
