Red Raiders Capture Victory Over Jayhawks

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team earned their first conference victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Kansas at the United Spirit Arena. The Red Raiders pleased the home crowd by containing the Jayhawks in games of 30-26, 30-25, 22-30, 25-30. Tech now moves to 8-6 on the season and 1-4 in Big 12 play. Kansas will return to Lawrence, Kan., with an identical record.
The Tech squad out-hit the Hawks .236 to .156 with 56 kills and 21 errors on 148 attempts. Amy Charlebois led the Red Raider squad in kills with 13 and notched five blocks on the defensive side. Philister Sang tallied her sixth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 10 digs. Kiley Lyons paced the team with an 18 dig effort. Emily Ziegler and Holly Hicks split setting duties, with Zielger tallying 28 assists and Hicks adding 20. Jenn Harrell recorded double figures in digs with 11.
Tech will move on to face the Missouri Tigers on Saturday, September 30, at the United Spirit Arena. The first serve is set for 7 p.m.
