LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech LB Brian Duncan (Baton Rouge, La./Tara) was named to the Big 12 Conference Fall Sports Good Works Team, the league office announced Thursday. The redshirt freshman has an extensive resume of community service projects and volunteer efforts in his second season on campus.
The team was formed to recognize the community service efforts by Big 12 Conference student-athletes. Student-athletes from cross country, football, soccer and volleyball are eligible for the fall team with each school represented once.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Vice-President, Duncan has been involved in over 20 community service projects, including several commitments with area elementary schools and students. His involvement ranges from speaking engagements to hospital visits to coaching the fourth grade basketball team at Tubbs Elementary.
Duncan also participates in bible study and is a Praise Team member at Trinity Church, where he has an acting and vocalist role in the church's Christmas Shoes play during the upcoming holidays.
The team's fifth-leading tackler, Duncan has started the last five games at outside linebacker for the Red Raiders and has led the team in tackles in three of those games. He has 44 stops on the year, including four tackles for loss.
