LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team is on the road for the first time this season, facing three nationally ranked competitors at the Great Northwest Shootout. The team looks to recover from their first loss of the season to ranked Denver last weekend.
The University of Washington will host all three matches, as play will be held at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle. In addition to Washington, the Red Raiders will match-up against Louisville and Middle Tennessee State, all of whom Tech has met in previous year's action.
Friday, Feb. 9, the men will start off with Louisville at noon, and then will take on Middle Tennessee State at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. In the final match of the weekend they face the host team Washington on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.
In the series record with all three teams, Tech looks to notch in a few wins in their favor. They hold a 0-3 series record against Louisville, are tied up 2-2 with Middle Tennessee, and are behind by one against Washington, 1-2.
Last time out for the Raiders included three home matches in their season opener. The team breezed by Prairie View A&M and Samford in the first two matches last Friday. Sunday, however, the team was unable to hold off the ranked Pioneers as they suffered their first loss of the season, 5-2.
Live stats will be available for Sunday's match against Washington, and will be on the Huskies Web site at http://gohuskies.cstv.com/sports/m-tennis/wash-live-stats.html.
