STEPHENVILLE, Texas - The outdoor season started sooner than expected as two Red Raiders competed on Thursday at the Tarleton Relays. The Texas Tech pole vaulters each finished with a regional-qualifying height in the event.
Freshman Brian Porter won the men's pole vault after clearing a personal-best height of 17'-0.75", beating his high school PR of 16'-7.75". The mark qualifies the Maypearl, Texas, native for the regional event that will take place on May 25-26.
Senior Seth Harris finished behind teammate Porter after the 2005 All-American cleared a height of 16'-6.75". The distance is also a regional qualifying height for Harris, who finished the 2005 season as an All-Midwest and All-American competitor.
The rest of the Red Raider squad is scheduled to compete at the Jim Click Shootout hosted by the University of Arizona on March 24th. For complete results of the Texas Tech outdoor track season, please visit www.texastech.com throughout the spring.
