Hey Everybody!! I am Alicia Ostmeyer, and I'm going to be a senior middle blocker for the Red Raiders this 2007 season. I was born and raised on a farm outside of Grinnell in northwest Kansas. I transferred from a junior college this past 2006 season.
I have enjoyed everything about Texas Tech University. It has a small-town atmosphere where everyone is friendly. It also has so much to offer, especially socially and academically. Tech seems to have a spirit and pride that is very inspirational to all students, especially athletes who attend.
So far our Tech volleyball team has been doing weights and conditioning along with individual practices. Our new strength and conditioning coach, Katie, has done a very good job of getting us into "volleyball" shape. We've done a lot of drills that consist of making us more explosive and responsive.
We have now started into team practices which are nice because we get to put all of our skills together and work on different team drills that will make us better. We are getting all geared up to compete in our two spring tournaments which are March 24th in Lubbock, Texas, and April 14th in Houston, Texas.
Our team just had a nice week off for spring break. A lot of us went home and spent quality time with family and friends. It was a very relaxing break. We are now ready to get back into the swing of things to begin a great 2007 season.
I hope my blog helps you keep up with what is going on with Tech volleyball. As for recruits or anybody else, come on down and watch us compete in our spring tournaments this season!! You won't want to miss it!! Go Red Raiders!!
