- Senior shortstop Kyle Martin hit his eighth home run of the season to give Tech a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. The home run ties his entire total from all of last season (8) and is his fifth all-time against Baylor.
- Baylor chased away Tech starter Colt Hynes after just 3 1/3 innings of work. The outing was his shortest in a start since logging 3 1/3 last season in a 6-5 loss to Oklahoma on April 22. He surrendered four runs on five hits, walked two batters and struckout two.
- Despite the loss, Texas Tech leads the all-time series against Baylor 69-62 but trails 38-23 in games played in Waco. The series is the third most-played in school history.
- Texas Tech dropped just its second game of the season when scoring the first run.
