Tech Heads North To Face Kansas State
The Texas Tech baseball team will spend its second straight weekend on the road as the Red Raiders travel north to face the Kansas State Wildcats in a three-game series. The series gets underway at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and will continue with a 2 p.m. game on Saturday. The series will conclude with a 1 p.m. first pitch on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Raiders (18-9; 3-3 Big 12) got some of the bad taste out of their mouth on Tuesday night as Tech rebounded from a 14-4 setback to Baylor on Sunday with a 10-3 win over New Mexico State. Tech got strong performances both at the plate and on the mound on Tuesday and pushed their all-time series lead over New Mexico State to 37-12. Roger Kieschnick led the offense with a pair of doubles (along with two RBIs) and now has 41 multiple hit games in his two year career.
The series in Manhattan will be pivotal for both teams as both Tech and Kansas State are coming off series losses on the road last weekend. The Wildcats dropped a three-game series (1-2) at No. 9 Texas while Texas Tech dropped a series (1-2) to the Baylor Bears in Waco. Texas Tech, however, enters the weekend with a pair of Big 12 series under its belt as the Red Raiders took a three-game series from Nebraska earlier this month. The tilt in Manhattan will be just the second league series of the year for the Wildcats.
All three games of the Kansas State series will be carried live on the Texas Tech Sports Network with Mark Finkner calling all the action from Tointon Family Stadium in Manhattan. Saturday's game against the Wildcats will be televised live by Fox Sports Net and will be available in the Southwest and Midwest markets and also available on Fox College Sports-Pacific. Wyatt Thompson and Mike Clark will call the action for FSN.
