Texas Tech Comes Back Strong in Nightcap

Fullerton, Calif. - Texas Tech improved to 13-7 on the season with a win over San Diego State, 7-0, in action Saturday night, March 3 at the Fullerton Worth Tournament. Jennifer Bowers' hit a 3-run first-inning blast to lead the way offensively and Ashly Jacobs/Sarah Losleben combine for the shut out.
Ashley Parker led things off in the top of the first with a single and advanced to second on Devin Zaragoza's single. An out later later, Jennifer Corkin drew a walk to load the bases. Whitney Riley hit a ground ball good enough to score A. Parker and pick up the RBI. When Bowers stepped in, the team's leading home run hitter from 2006, she blasted the first offering over the fence in left center and Texas Tech was up, 4-0.
Ashly Jacobs improved to 10-4 on the season as the freshman pitched six strong innings, scattering six hits, issuing two walks and fanning three. She gave way to teammate Sarah Losleben who pitched a perfect seventh to maintain the shut out.
