Texas Tech Finishes 2-3 at Fullerton Worth Tournament

Fullerton, Calif. - The Red Raiders held a 2-1 advantage heading into the final frame, but Cal Poly short stop Melissa Pura drilled a 3-run home run to lift the Mustangs to the 4-2 win and send Texas Tech home with an overall record of 13-8 on the season and 2-3 in the Fullerton Worth tournament.
Ashly Jacobs took the loss for Tech as the freshman gave up four runs, (three earned) on 11 hits and a walk. She fanned nine Mustangs and now has 85 strikeouts on the season.
Tech knocked out five hits, by Devin Zaragoza, Jennifer Corkin, Whitney Riley, Heather Parker and by Jennifer Bowers. It was a Bowers' RBI triple which had put the Red Raiders on top, 2-1, in the fourth.
No. 12 Northwestern was the only team at the event to go undefeated at the event, as all other teams spent their time splitting games with each other, results below.
