Matt Smith's leadoff home run in the bottom of the second gave him his 10th home run of the season and the 19th of his career. Texas Tech now has two players with double digit home runs as shortstop Kyle Martin also has 10.
Sophomore right-fielder Roger Kieschnick picked up his Big 12 leading 19th double of the season tonight in the second inning. He is just 11 doubles shy of setting a new Texas Tech single season record.
Texas Tech now leads the all-time series against Hardin Simmons 73-29.
