LUBBOCK, Texas - Due to snowfall and cold weather, today's match between the visiting New Mexico State Aggies and Texas Tech Red Raiders was played indoors at the Lubbock Country Club. Tech swept the match winning all six singles points, improving their record to 12-7 on the season.
To begin the match, senior Dimitrio Martinez was able to end his two match slump defeating Roman Stoisavlievic 6-4, 6-4. Next, Sinisa Markovic improved his singles record to 12-2 winning the second set tiebreaker 7-4, followed by Tech's No. 1 Bojan Szumanski notching in another win 7-6, 6-1 over Gustave Diep.
Playing in the No. 4 spot, Michael Breler was able to overcome a first set loss to NMSU's Brice Magnanou, 6-4, making a comeback in the next two sets to clinch the match for the Raiders. To cap the day, both Christian Rojmar and Milos Kustudija knocked off their opponents in two quick sets.
"New Mexico State is still a very young team," commented head Coach Tim Siegel. "I think our guys played really well today, and now they know they have a tough week ahead of them as we prepare to take on No. 4 Baylor."
The Raiders next face Big 12 powerhouse the Baylor Bears on Sunday, April 15, at 2 p.m. For more information and complete results, visit www.texastech.com.
