LUBBOCK, Texas - Coming off a close-fought loss to in-state rival Texas A&M, Texas Tech volleyball will look to rebound Saturday afternoon when it takes on the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kan.
The Red Raiders are coming off a tough five-game loss in College Station Wednesday. Facing a 0-2 deficit in the match, Tech fought back to make things interesting before falling in the fifth game. Four Red Raiders had double digit kills on the night, led by Michelle Flores' 18. Amy Gandy picked up her sixth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 16 digs, while Alicia Ostmeyer knocked down a career-best 16 kills of her own on an attack percentage of .500. Senior setter Emily Ziegler tied a career-high 58 assists against the Aggies.
The Jayhawks opened the Big 12 season with two-straight losses, but they are riding the momentum of a 3-2 win over Missouri earlier this week. Kansas is led by outside hitter/setter Emily Brown, who has 98 kills and 329 assists coming into the match. Jenna Kaiser leads the KU hitting attack with 121 kills on the season. The Jayhawks are coached by Ray Bechard in his 10th season with the team.
Tech leads the series with Kansas 15-8, including two wins last year. The Red Raiders have won three of the last four meetings between the two. Each team holds an identical 1-2 record in conference play.
First serve is set for 1 p.m. in the Horejsi Athletics Center.
