LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech sophomore wide receiver Michael Crabtree was named to the CBSSports.com Midseason All-America Team, one of five Big 12 players selected. Crabtree is one of two wide receivers named to the squad.
Crabtree is averaging 10.0 points per-game this season and has games of 158 (Nevada) and 164 yards (SMU), and caught a season-high three TD receptions against the Mustangs.
Crabtree ranks fourth in the nation in yards per-game (108.83) and second in TDs (10). He has scored a TD in every game this year for the Red Raiders who are currently 6-0 and ranked seventh in the nation. Crabtree is averaging 1.7 TDs per game during his career.
Fellow Heisman candidate Graham Harrell and Crabtree have combined for 32 TDs since the beginning of last season - the number breaks the Big 12's top pass/receive tandems mark formerly held by Oklahoma State's Josh Field and Rashaun Woods, who combined for 31 scores (2001-03).
Crabtree was named the 2007 Biletnikoff Award winner, which recognizes the nation's top wide receiver. In 2007, Crabtree pulled in 134 receptions for 1,962 yards and 22 touchdowns - all of which are NCAA records for a freshman. He also set an NCAA freshman record gaining an average 150.9 yards per-game and another by having 11 games where he gained 100 yards or more.
Also in 2007, Crabtree was a unanimous consensus All-America first-team selection and unanimous all-conference pick. He was named Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Big 12 Conference Offensive Newcomer of the Year.
