Lady Raiders Win Chile Pepper Festival Again

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 29 Texas Tech Lady Raiders cross country team won the women's Chile Pepper Festival for the second-straight year and Sally Kipyego won her third-straight individual title at the Chile Pepper in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Lady Raiders won the event with a total score of 72 points. No. 10 Arkansas finished in second with a score of 101 points and SMU was third with 139 points.
Kipyego, two-time NCAA cross country champion, won the 6K race with a time of 19:26.91. She was 16 seconds faster than second place. Junior Lillian Badaru followed Kipyego in third place. She ran a time of 19:54.04 and it is her third meet to finish in the top five.
Junior Gladys Kipsang was the third Lady Raider that finished in the top 10. She came across the line in ninth with a time of 20:44.38. Senior Asia Diaz ran a time of 21:15.64 to place 20th. Sophomore Michelle Guzman finished 39th running 21:52.07.
Sophomore Addison LeMaster was the next Lady Raider to finish as she ran a 22:13.74 placing 59th. Senior Chep Boit ran a time of 22:16.54 finishing in 62nd. Freshman Brintney Green placed 85th in a time of 22:40.86. Sophomore Katherine Priebe ran a time of 23:12.18 to finish 128th. Sophomore Kayla Sayegh was the final Lady Raider to finish as she placed 188th with a time of 24:12. 79.
The Red Raiders finished sixth overall with 228 points as Texas A&M took the men's title with 52 points and Arkansas was second with 75 points.
Sophomore Gilbert Limo was the top Red Raider as he finished in eighth place overall in a time of 29:36.87. Limo has finished in the top 10 in four-straight meets. Finishing in 59th was junior Cory Higgins in 31:12.69 and sophomore Logan Culotta ran a time of 31:44.32 placing 75th. Sophomore Nathan Milles was right behind Culotta in 76th running a 31:45.40.
Junior Jake Szot ran a 32:23.74 placing 102 and freshman Zach Dawson crossed the line 126th with a time of 32:52. 53. Running the 10K course in a time of 33;02.69 was junior David Boston finishing in 134th. Junior Aaron Greer was the next Red Raider to finish. He ran a 33:31.06 to place 150th. Freshman James Rodriguez placed 167th running 33:51.81 and junior Jeremy Kight ran a 34:02.75 to finish in 174th.
Texas Tech runs at the Big 12 Championships in Ames, Iowa on Sat., Nov. 1st.
