Lady Raiders Sign Three for 2009

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team has signed three new student-athletes, Beverly Mendoza (St. Paul College Pasig), Gabby Dominguez (Chilton, Texas/Chilton HS), Kim Kaufman (Clark, S.D./Clark HS), for the fall of 2009 announced by head coach Stacey Totman.
"I am so excited about the addition of these three players. They are all proven players at the national and international levels. I look for them to make an immediate impact when they arrive on campus. I know that Kim, Gabby, and Beverly are going to help rewrite the history books while at Texas Tech," Totman said.
Mendoza played high school golf at St. Paul College in Pasig, she grew up in Mandaluyong City, Philippines. She won the 2008 Samsun Interscholastic Golf Championship held at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo City, Phillippines. She shot 14-under to win the tournament and beat high school and college age players. Mendoza also placed fifth at the 46th Philippine Ladies Amateur Open Golf Championships.
Kaufman played at Clark High School in Clark, S. D. She has won the South Dakota State "B" individual championship three times and is a five-time all-state golfer. Kaufman helped her team win the South Dakota "B" team title for five-years straight. She has qualified four-times for the USGA Girls' Jr. Qualifier, two-time USGA Women's Amateur Qualifier, and is a six-time South Dakota Golf Association Junior Champion. Her career-low round is a 66.
Dominguez has won the last three Class 1A State Championships at Chilton High School in Chilton, Texas. Dominguez has had a stellar high school career as she has never lost a district, regional or state championship in her career. She was a 2006 U.S Women's Open Sectional Qualifer and has qualified to play in the past three USGA Girls Championships. Dominguez also won the TLJT Texas Girls Junior Championship at the age of 16. She has won over 19 high school tournaments to date.
"They are competitors with a desire to win and get better everyday. All of these young women are not only great on the course but great students as well," Totman exclaimed. "I know that they will bring a lot to the program and to Texas Tech and I am so excited for their arrival next fall."
