LUBBOCK, Texas - The academic honors keep rolling in for former Texas Tech volleyball player Alicia Ostmeyer as she recently named the high senior female athlete in addition to being a co-recipient of the Margaret Wilson Award for the top female athlete at the Texas Tech Athletics Academic Awards Reception earlier this week.
Garnering academic awards is not anything new for the Grinnell, Kan., native. Earlier this year, she was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Volleyball First Team. In November, Ostmeyer was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team.
The former middle blocker finished her senior campaign this year averaging 2.4 kills per game (247 total) and .84 blocks per game while anchoring the Red Raiders defense. Ostmeyer has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA in her two years at Tech and is set to graduate shortly in Speech Language Hearing.
Ostmeyer is one of four Tech players to receive academic recognition this year. Graduating seniors Amy Gandy and Emily Ziegler, and sophomore Jenn Harrell were also named Academic All-Big 12 earlier in the year.
