Red Raiders Sweep Cloudcroft Meet

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech started the cross country season at an elevation of roughly 9,000 ft. in Cloudcroft, N.M. and the course provided good results and training for the Red Raiders.
The women's squad took first place in the meet with a team score of 23. Gladys Kipsang won the first race of three miles in a time of 19:17.34. Three other Red Raiders placed in the top six as Asia Diaz (20:37.40), Michelle Guzman (20:46.10) and Chep Boit (21:30.00) finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. Tech had ten women finish in the top 20 overall.
The men were equally as impressive as eight of the top ten places were Red Raiders as they won the meet with a meet score of 16. Gilbert Limo led the way on the four mile course with a time of 22:53.90. Logan Culotta ran a time of 23:13.50 placing second, Nathan Milles finished third in a time of 23:31.10 and Cory Higgins ran a time of 23:37.20 to place fourth. Will Brewer (24.23.10) placed sixth and Jeremy Kight (24:36.30), David Boston (24:44.70) and James Rodriguez (24:46.60) finished eighth through tenth respectively.
The next meet for Tech will be the Red Raider Invitational held on Sept., 19th.
