Tech Starts Volleyball Season with Win

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech started the 2008 season with a winning performance in its first match against North Texas taking the first round match 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-17).
The combination of senior Brandi Hood and freshman Amanda Dowdy had a total of ten of the 20 assisted blocks for the Red Raiders. Hood also led the team with eight kills. Junior transfer Caroline Witte led the team with 16 assists and a .400 attack percentage for the match.
Tech will play two matches tomorrow against UT-Arlington at 11 a.m. and Jackson State at 4 p.m. live stats of the two matches can be found at www.meangreensports.com.
