LUBBOCK, Texas - With Red and Black running through their veins, the contributions of this year's inductees transcend monetary donations as both couples also have given tirelessly through their support as fans. Terry and Linda Fuller and Cloyce and Anita Talbott will represent the sixth class of inductees into the Texas Tech Hall of Legacy this year.
The couples will be formally inducted at a dinner in their honor Fri., Aug. 29, at 6 p.m. at Jones AT&T Stadium on Suite Level I. The Fullers and Talbotts also will be recognized during the Eastern Washington game the following day. Tables of eight can be purchased for $350, while individual tickets are $40 per person. Tickets may be purchased through the Red Raider Club at (806) 742-1196 or via e-mail: amy.mcbride@ttu.edu. RSVPs are requested by Aug. 20.
For those that don't know Terry and Linda Fuller, rather than put faces with a name, put a name with the bus. The Fullers are easily recognized at home and road events by the customized bus with the Double T on the side Terry drives to each football game throughout the season. There you can find the Fullers entertaining all comers with a game on TV and their outstanding fajitas during a day-long tailgate.
Their support doesn't stop there. The Fullers logged over 43,000 miles during their first year with bus in 2002, and have made subsequent trips to NCAA basketball tournaments and the NCAA track and field championships in Sacramento in 2006. Terry purchased the bus as a personal gift, marking his 25th anniversary as a graduate of Texas Tech. A 1977 petroleum engineer graduate, Terry is owner of Phoenix PetroCorp, which is an independent oil and gas company with operations in north Texas, southern Oklahoma and southwest Kansas.
In addition to their support as fans, the Fullers are involved in various areas on campus. Terry is the currently the national president for the Red Raider Club and Linda is a national board member of the alumni association and is serving on the Equal Access Scholarship Selection Committee for Texas Tech.
Cloyce and Anita Talbott are longtime supporters of Red Raider athletics, dating back to 1958, when Cloyce received his degree in petroleum engineering. Anita received an accounting degree from Texas Tech in 1991. Members of the Texas Tech Spur Society, the Talbotts' support of Texas Tech comes out of a deep love for the university. As proud Red Raiders, the couple wanted to be a part of Texas Tech's future success, including contributions to the Horizon Campaign. The Talbotts, also generous donors to the engineering department, expressed an importance to contribute and support Texas Tech Athletics, because they are "proud of what the university is doing to grow and build."
Cloyce retired in October 2007 after serving as CEO and president of Patterson-UTI Energy, Inc., in Snyder, a post he took over in May 2006. He held the position of Chairman of the Board for Patterson-UTI from 1983 through May 2001. The Talbotts have four children, two boys and two girls, two of which attended and graduated from Texas Tech. Their daughter, Lisa, was a member of the Texas Tech golf team. Additionally, the Talbotts have 10 grandchildren.
