No. 12 Lady Raiders Win Red Raider Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 12 Texas Tech Lady Raiders won the women's half of the Red Raider Invitational cross country meet and the Red Raiders took second on the men's half behind South Plains.
The Lady Raiders had a team score of 25 total points to win the team title. Lillian Badaru won the women's 5K race in her debut as a Lady Raider in a time of 17:40.16. Seven other Lady Raiders finished in the top 15 of the race. Gladys Kipsang ran a time of 18:25.17 to place third. Asia Diaz (18:42.32), Chep Boit (19:02.87) and Michelle Guzman (19.09.01) finished sixth, seventh, and eighth respectively. Addison LeMaster finished 11th in a time of 19:41.34 and Brintney Green ran a time of 19:44.88 to place 12th.
The men scored a total of 63 to finish in second place behind South Plains. Gilbert Limo was the top Red Raider on the 8K course has he finished in fourth with a time of 24:56.97. Jake Szot ran a time of 26.34.47 to finish in 14th and the second Red Raider to cross the line. Nathan Milles and Zach Dawson in only their second collegiate competition placed 18th and 21st respectively, with a times of 26:48.81 and 27:03.36. Cory Higgins ran a time of 27:05.45 to place 23rd and Logan Culotta finished 24th with a time of 27:12.60.
The Red Raiders next race will be at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla. on Oct. 4th, and the No. 12 Lady Raiders will run at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on Oct. 3rd.
