GETTING STARTED
- Texas Tech won the opening coin toss and elected to receive. Tech is now 1-1 on the year in the opening toss.
- Tonight's game at Mackay Stadium marks the smallest road venue for the Red Raiders since a 1999 trip to Louisiana-Lafayette's Cajun Field (capacity 31,000). Tech posted a 38-17 win over the Cajun's in front of 18,128 fans in that game.
- Senior left guard Louis Vasquez had his string of 13-consecutive starts snapped tonight as he missed the game due to an injury suffered in the season opener last week against Eastern Washington. Stephen Hamby made the start in his stead while Shawn Byrnes started at center in replacement of Hamby.
- Tonight's matchup against Nevada was the first-ever between the two teams and the Wolf Pack are the 126th different opponent for the Red Raiders in their 84-year history. The trip to Reno marked the furthest trip away from Lubbock for the Red Raiders in non-conference play since opening up the 2002 season at Ohio State.

- Gives Mike Leach a career record of 67-37 and a 23-5 mark against non-conference opponents as the head coach of the Red Raiders.
- Gives Mike Leach a career record of 2-0 against the WAC (wins over Utah State in 2000 and Nevada tonight).
- Gives Tech four-consecutive wins dating back to the 2007 season.
THE ELF TAKES ONE TO THE HOUSE
Senior Eric Morris became the first Red Raider to run a punt back for a touchdown since Danny Amendola did so against Kansas State in 2004 (90-yard return by Amendola). Morris' punt return covered 86 yards and is the fifth longest in school history. It was his first career punt return for a touchdown and the 25th by the Red Raiders since 1951. The return gave Texas Tech a 7-3 lead at the eight-minute mark of the first quarter.
- He gave the Red Raiders a 20-12 lead with 5:20 remaining in the third quarter when he scored on a 13-yard rush. The rushing touchdown was the first of his career.
ANOTHER BIG NIGHT FOR CRABTREE
It was another big night for Heisman candidate Michael Crabtree as he led the Red Raiders with seven catches for 158 yards and one touchdown. The 82-yard TD reception he caught in the fourth quarter established a career high. The 100-plus yard receiving night marked the 12th of his career.
- Now owns 24 career touchdowns and occupies sole possession of second place on the career TD list at Texas Tech. He needs just six more to tie Jarret Hicks' mark of 30 that he piled up between 2003-06.
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
- Texas Tech fell behind for the first time this season at the 10:31 mark in the first quarter when Brett Jaekle connected on a 27-yard field goal to put Nevada up 3-0. The field goal came on the heels of the Tech offense turning the ball over on downs on its first possession of the game.
- Junior defensive end McKinner Dixon registered his second sack of the season in the first quarter on a third and long situation for the Wolf Pack. The sack was recorded for a loss of eight yards.
- Sophomore linebacker Bront Bird picked up his first career sack with 7:54 remaining in the second quarter. The sack went down for a loss of 10-yards.
- Senior running back Shannon Woods lifted Tech to a 13-6 lead with 5:18 remaining in the first half when he scored on a one-yard rush. The TD was set up by a 50-yard reception by Michael Crabtree (sixth-longest of his career). Woods scored again late in the fourth quarter on a 21-yard rush giving him back-to-back games with two touchdowns as he scored two last week against Eastern Washington.
- The Texas Tech defensive line came up with its second interception of the season as Richard Jones hauled in his first career pick to stall a Nevada drive on the Red Raider 26-yard line in the closing minutes of the second half. DT Ra'Jon Henley picked up an interception in last week's opener against Eastern Washington.
- Lance Fuller blocked a Nevada punt with 1:35 remaining in the second quarter deep in Wolf Pack territory. The blocked punt is the first by the Red Raiders since Steven Harris did so against Northwestern State in 2007.
- Freshman Donnie Carona's field goal attempt with just over a minute remaining in the first half was blocked and it marked the second blocked FG against the Red Raiders this season. Eastern Washington blocked an attempt in last week's season opener.
- Quarterback Graham Harrell's 10 completions (10-of-25 with one INT) in the first half marked a career-low for the senior from Ennis. His previous low was 12-of-22 (109 yards) at TCU in 2006. He finished the night with two interceptions and that marked the sixth multiple-INT game of his career.
- Eric Morris' rushing touchdown in the third quarter was the seventh of the season for the Red Raiders versus only two through the air.
- Texas Tech got some much needed breathing room from Heisman candidate duo Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree as the two connected for an 82-yard touchdown reception with 11:34 remaining in the game to give Tech a 27-12 lead. The 82-yard TD pass was the longest of Harrell's career surpassing the 76-yard TD pass he made to Joel Filani against Baylor in 2006. Crabtree's previous long TD catch was 75 yards last year at Oklahoma State.
