- Despite tonight's loss, Texas Tech leads the all-time series against the Islanders 9-2.
- Chris Richburg hit his team-leading sixth home run of the season in the fourth and Justin Berry followed him with his second home run of the year. Tanner Rindels and Chris Hall were the last Red Raiders to hit back-to-back home runs as they did so against New Mexico State last season in Roswell.
- Texas Tech managed just two hits on the night and that marked a season-low.
- Texas Tech is now just 1-9 on the road this season and has lost three straight.
