The Red Raiders will honor their five seniors Saturday
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Baseball closes out its 2026 home schedule against BYU this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
Winners of back-to-back games, Texas Tech will welcome BYU for the third all-time series between the two schools since the Cougars joined the Big 12 prior to the 2023-24 season.
The previous two series have been won by the home team, as Tech won 2-of-3 from BYU in Lubbock in 2024 before dropping the series in Provo a season ago.
This weekend series begins on Thursday night with Fan Appreciation Night, as the first 500 fans will receive a Tech branded collapsible fan. Thursday's contest will also feature an "innings of winnings" promotion as fans can be entered to win various prizes from Texas Tech corporate partners.
Following Friday night's Mental Health Awareness Night, the Red Raiders will close out the series and the 2026 home slate on Saturday afternoon with a special "Senior Day" themed trading card giveaway for the first 1,000 fans.
The Red Raiders sit tied with Arizona for the 12th and final spot in the Big 12 Tournament with just six total games to play. HEADLINES IN 1-2-3:
* Tech closes its 2026 home slate this weekend when it welcomes BYU for a three-game home series in Lubbock. The weekend series with BYU marks the third-straight season the new conference foes will play in B12 play. In 2024, BYUs first season in the Big 12, the Red Raiders defeated BYU 2/3. Last season, BYU returned the favor defeating Tech in the first two games of the series before the Red Raiders rebounded for the series finale. In 2024, Tech dropped the series opener to BYU, before winning G2 and G3.
Â
* After scoring just once in the series opener against Baylor, and striking for just three runs over the first 16 innings of the series, Tech exploded for seven runs over the final two innings of the Saturday nightcap, nearly erasing a 10-2 deficit going to the eighth. The momentum from Saturday's game two carried over into Sunday's win, as Tech used seven runs over the final two innings to win 8-3. Tech has now scored 26 runs in its last three games. After not homering for nine straight games, the Red Raiders have also seen a power resurgence the last 12 games as the Red Raiders have hit 13 longballs over that span. Logan Hughes had led the charge for Tech the last dozen games as he personally has hit five of the home runs.
Â
* Bolstered by a key 2-4 caught stealing in the eighth, sophomore Connor Shouse recorded six key outs on Tuesday night to close out his first career save and the Red Raiders first save since Mar. 22 when Tech defeated Arizona 12-10. Entering with the Red Raiders up 9-7, Shouse stranded the tying runs on base in the ninth, striking out Dallas Baptist's Mac Rose on a slider. Shouse also doubled in a run and scored two runs in a 2-for-4 performance. He's now 10 for his last 15 and was named to the NCAA and Baseball America Teams of the Week.

HUGHES IS HEATING UP AND ROCKETING UP THE DRAFT BOARDS
A year after leading the Big 12 in total home runs (19) and Big 12 only home runs (11) in the regular season, Texas Tech outfielder Logan Hughes continues to shine in Big 12 play. After hitting .376 with 11 home runs and 30 RBIs in Big 12 play a season ago and slashing .376/.436/.760, Hughes has once again been one of the most productive players in Big 12 play again in 2026, as the outfielder is now 37-for-94 (.394) in conference play this season and is slashing .394/.486/.670 through his first 24 games this season. On Sunday Hughes hit his six homer of the season in Big 12 play and his 17th career home run in league play. Hughes' 11 long balls in league play a season ago were the fourth-most home runs in a Big 12 season in Texas Tech history behind just Joe Dillion (15), Josh Bard (12) and Jace Jung (12). Despite playing just under two full seasons Hughes sits in solo fifth all-time in Big 12 home runs hit and needs just one more Big 12 dinger to tie Cameron Blair for third all-time in B12 Only home runs. Hughes with two more big flies in league play can tie Keith Ginter and Jace Jung at 19 Big 12 only home runs. The two-run home run were also the 49th and 50th career Big 12 RBIs for Hughes through just 54 all-time conference games. Hughes needs just three runs batted in to crack the top-10. The outfielder after being projected in the late Second Round of the 2026 MLB Draft is now getting buzz at a First Round Pick in the 2026 MLB Draft held in Philadelphia during All-Star Weekend. Hughes was mocked at No. 28 to the Houston Astros in Perfect Games' latest MLB Mock Draft. Hughes was tabbed the No. 46 prospect in the draft by Baseball America. On Tuesday night against DBU, Hughes homered and doubled home a run to eclipse 60 RBIs on the season. With the first inning home run, Hughes has now homered in back-to-back contests, back-to-back home games and five times in his last 12 games overall.
SENIOR DAY AND THE FINAL THREE HOME GAMES ALREADY
As the 2026 continues to fly by and toward its end, the Red Raiders embark on the final home series of the 2026 season this weekend when they welcome BYU for a Thursday-Friday-Saturday series. The three home games will be home games 30-32 on the season. Tech is 18-11 so far this season at home overall and will look to win a home series this weekend against BYU for the first time since Mar. 15-17 against first place Kansas. On Saturday, the Red Raiders will honor their five seniors for senior day as pitchers Ryan Free, Jonny Lowe and Jacob Rogers will join infielders Tracer Lopez and Robin Villeneuve as the Red Raiders senior day honorees.

WEEKEND NOTES (BYU):
T-LO STAYED HOT
Tracer Lopez continues to shine in his final season with the Scarlet and Black, as so far in 2026 Lopez is hitting .366 with a career-high 70 hits and a career-best 19 doubles. Lopez has now played in 211 career games and made 204 career starts recording 775 at-bats, 170 runs scored and 233 total hits. Lopez is now solo sixth in the all-time hits category and needs just three knocks to pass Randy DuRoss for fifth all-time on the Red Raiders hit list. Lopez's 170 runs scored are eighth all-time in program history and his next run will tie the infielder with Barrett Barnes (171) for seventh on the all-time run list. On Thursday night in the series opener against BYU, Lopez will appear in his 212th career game moving into a tie with Michael Davis and Madison Edwards for fourth on the all-time games plated list. If Lopez plays in all six of the remaining games for the Red Raiders he can move into the third place on the all-time games played list Lopez has also taken the fourth-most at-bats in school history and needs just seven at-bats to tie Taylor Ashby for the third-most Abs in program history. Lopez is already just one of four players in program history to reach 210 career hits and 200 games played joining Eric Gutierrez (264 hits in 244 games), Taylor Ashby (228 hits in 216 games) and Clint Bryant (341 hits in 240 games)..Â
Â
BACK IN THE WIN COLUMNÂ
After dropping both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday, the Red Raiders used a key come-from-behind win on Sunday against Baylor to snap a five-game losing streak overall and a nine-game Big 12 Conference losing streak, as the Red Raiders avoided getting swept for the third-straight weekend. The win also put the Red Raiders into a tie with Arizona for the 12th and final Big 12 Conference Tournament spot in the event. If Tech and Arizona end the season tied in the standings, the Red Raiders would win the tiebreaker by virtue of the March series win in Tucson. Tech plays host to BYU this weekend before traveling to Cincinnati next week for a three-game set in the Queen City. The Wildcats welcome Houston for a weekend set this weekend before traveling to Stillwater for a weekend series with Oklahoma State to close Big 12 play. The Red Raiders are also now just within two games of Kansas State for 11th in the Big 12 standings. KST who got swept over the weekend in Morgantown, welcomes Cincinnati this weekend before traveling to UCF to close conference play. If Tech could catch Kansas State it would also hold the tiebreaker as the tiebreaker would move to results against the highest seed opponent. In this case Tech and K-St have Kansas as their common opponent with the highest standing in Big 12 play. The Red Raiders took 2-of-3 from Kansas while KST was swept at home by KU.Â

SENIOR DAY AND THE FINAL THREE HOME GAMES ALREADY
Â
FOUR FROM 500
In his 14th season at the helm of his alma matter, head coach Tim Tadlock enters the weekend just three wins shy of reaching 500 career wins. Tadlock, who has guided the Red Raiders to three Big 12 titles and four trips to Omaha, enters the weekend with a career record of 497-300. In Saturday's home finale against BYU, Tadlock will coach in his 800th career game as the Red Raiders head coach. If Tadlock can reach 500 wins this season he would join Larry Hayes (813-479-3) as the only head coaches in program history to reach 500 career win and would be the 15th active head coach to reach 500 wins in college.Â
FOUR FROM 500
After hitting a rough patch in the middle of Big 12 play, Connor Shouse reignited in the weekend series in Waco, as the versatile infielder/outfielder went 8-for-11 in the weekend series at Baylor with two home runs and seven RBIs. After homering twice in the Red Raiders night cap with Baylor, Shouse went 3-for-4 and drove in the winning run in the Red Raiders 8-3 come-from-behind win. On Tuesday night, Shouse went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI that came on a 110 MPH double into the gap. Shouse has now scored two runs in three-straight games. When you expand it out over the last four games, Shouse is 10 for his last 15 with the two home runs. Shouse has also walked and been hit by a pitch over that span, meaning he has gotten on-base in 12 of his last 17 trips to the mound. In addition to his offensive prowess on Tuesday night, Shouse also shined on the mound, tossing two scoreless frames to earn his first career save in the 9-7 win over DBU.Â
UP NEXT:
The Red Raider close the regular season next Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a weekend series at Cincinnati. First pitch from the Queen City is set for 5 p.m. (CT) on both Thursday and Friday and Noon (CT) on Saturday.
