- Despite tonight's loss, Texas Tech still leads the all-time series against Baylor 72-66. Baylor holds a 41-24 advantage against the Red Raiders in Waco.
- Texas Tech's 8-14 record marks the worst start to a season over the span of 22 games since the 1974 season when that squad started out 6-16.
- Baylor's 5-4 win over the Red Raiders secured the series win for the Bears and is their fourth consecutive series win over Tech at Baylor Ballpark.
- Texas Tech has now lost 19-consectuive three-game series on the road. Tech's last series win on the road was in 2004 at Oklahoma State.
- Freshman third baseman Justin Berry had his six-game hit streak snapped as he struckout in his first two at bats before leaving the game in the sixth in favor of pinch hitter Garrett Totten. Prior to being replaced in the sixth, Berry had played every single inning so far this season.
- Freshman designated hitter Scott LeJeune had a career night as he went 5-for-5 with three runs driven in.
- Senior first baseman Chris Richburg extended his hit streak to nine games with a leadoff double in the eighth.
