The True Utility Player
In addition to pitching, playing right field, and being the designated player, senior Alex Watkins got her first start as catcher this season in the, 3-2 (9), win over Texas State on Monday. The versatile Watkins has also hit safely in 14 of the last 16 games and is hitting .323 overall with 40 hits and a team-leading 27 RBI. She also leads the Red Raider pitching staff with 110 strikeouts on the season, good for eighth-best in the Big 12 Conference.
Jacobs Allows Just Three Hits

Bledsoe Hits First Career Home Run
Freshman Emily Bledsoe cranked out her first career home run against Texas State on Monday afternoon, in this case while hitting from the left side. Along with the home run, Bledsoe has 23 hits and 14 RBI on the season. She is the Red Raiders first true switch hitter as a few of those hits and RBI have come from the right side of the dish, but the majority has been from the left.
Freshmen Knock In Runs
Freshmen Stephanie Drewry and Skyler Peterson accounted for all of Tech's three RBI in the, 3-2, in over Texas State on Monday. Peterson went 2-4 on the day scoring Tech's first run on a single up the middle. Drewry singled up the middle in the top of the ninth to score the game-tying and game-winning runs, going two-for-five on the day.
