Tech Plays Final Home Matches This Weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis squad plays its final two home matches of the season at the McLeod Tennis Center against Kansas on Friday and Kansas State on Sunday and seniors Kyla Coleman and Samantha van der Drift will be recognized before the Kansas State match.
Tech is ranked #63 this week in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. The Lady Raiders are currently 7-10 on the season and 2-4 in Big 12 play.
Coleman has a career record of 10-13 and is currently 1-1 on this season. The senior has consistently been one of the top two with the highest GPA's on the squad. She is extremely hard worker and has played a key role in being a leader for the team.
Van der Drift became Tech's all-time winningest singles player with her 75th career victory. Paired with doubles partner Kelsy Garland, the duo is currently No. 54 and has a 17-7 record and 5-1 in conference play. She has played the No. 1 singles position all year and is 17-10 on the season. Van der Drift was named 2007-2008 Academic All-Big 12 first team and All-Big 12 singles honors as a sophomore. Last season she was named All-Big 12 doubles with partner Janet Durham.
Kansas comes into the match with an 8-8 record and 3-3 in conference. Kansas is on a two match win streak. Kansas State has a 3-9 overall record and 0-5 in conference. The Wildcats are currently on a seven match losing streak.
The Kansas match will be on Friday at 3 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center and the home finale for the Lady Raiders starts at 11 a.m. versus Kansas State. Live results of the matches can be found at www.texastech.com.
