LUBBOCK, Texas - Red Raider softball travels to El Paso, Texas, for a Thursday doubleheader against the Miners of UTEP. Game one is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. CT, with game two beginning twenty minutes after the conclusion of game one.
Eimen Continues To Execute
Senior Elizabeth Eimen continues to execute, as she leads the Red Raiders hitting .366 with 53 hits and 16 RBIs. Eimen picked up two hits, an RBI, and a run scored over the weekend against Missouri. She also boasts a .982 fielding percentage on the year.
She's Got Legs Legler
Junior Leah Legler went 3-4 against Missouri over the weekend, including a 2-2 and one RBI performance on Sunday. On the year, Legler is batting .311 with 47 hits and 13 RBIs.
Hamada and Drewry Provide Strong Defensive Presence
Freshman Ashley Hamada has provided a strong presence in right-field this year for the Red Raiders. Hamada has only committed two errors in 39 starts for Texas Tech. Fellow freshman Stephanie Drewry has provided a similar strong presence in left-field committing just three errors in 45 starts this year.
Emily `Stud' Bledsoe
Freshman Emily Bledsoe has played first-rate defensively at shortstop for the Red Raiders so far this year, and has been doing some damage at the plate as well. Bledsoe is hitting just .217, but has 25 hits, six doubles, a triple, a home run, and 14 RBIs.
Matthews Makes Some Noise
Redshirt sophomore Danielle Matthews had a productive game Sunday against the No. 10 Missouri Tigers. Matthews went 1-1 including a double into the right-center gap, and a beautiful sacrifice bunt to advance Ashley Hamada to third, who eventually scored.
Scouting UTEP
UTEP enters Thursday's doubleheader with an overall record of 22-23-1. Most recently, UTEP won, lost, and tied a game against fellow Conference USA opponent Southern Mississippi, in a three game series over the weekend. UTEP is led by Camilla Carrera batting .441 with 63 hits, 16 doubles, 12 home runs, and 36 RBIs. In the circle, the Miners are led by Staci Townsend with an ERA of 3.27 and a record of 14-14.
