- Texas A&M now holds an 87-53 lead in the all-time series but the Red Raiders now hold a 35-31 advantage in Lubbock and are now 20-15 all-time against the Aggies in one-run games.
- Texas Tech is at .500 (5-5) in Big 12 Conference play after 10 games for the first time since the 2006 season.
- The Masked Rider led the Red Raiders onto the field tonight prior to the game. It marked thef first time the Masked Rider has led any other team onto the field besides football in history.
- Texas Tech picked up its first Big 12 win on a Friday night since defeating Kansas 1-0 on April 20, 2007, at Dan Law Field. In that game, AJ Ramos hurled a complete game shutout that eventually helped Tech take a 2-1 series win over the Jayhawks.
- Texas Tech got huge production from four of its Lubbock products in Taylor Ashby (Monterey), Chris Richburg (Frenship), Brian Cloud (Cooper) and Chad Bettis (Monterey). Ashby and Richburg drove in all four runs (two each) while Cloud logged a career-high 4 2/3 innings in his first career start. Bettis shut the door on the Aggies and earned his fifth save of the season.
- With his save tonight, sophomore RHP Chad Bettis is now 2-0 in Big 12 play with three saves. He owns an ERA of 1.70 in conference play over 20 1/3 innings.
- Senior first baseman Chris Richburg drove in two runs tonight and now has 11 multiple-RBI games this season (team leader).
- Texas Tech committed three errors tonight (two in the top of the ninth) and now has 12 games with three or miscues this season. The Red Raiders have 60 total errors on the season for a fielding percentage of .952.
