Texas Tech now leads the all-time series against UTSA 5-1.
Tonight's game marked the first Division I win for the Red Raiders since Feb. 26 that did not feature sophomore right-hander Chad Bettis. Bettis had been a part of every Tech win since late February with the exception of the LCU game on March 23.
Nate Karns fanned a career-high 11 batters tonight surpassing his previous high of nine set against LCU on March 23.
Junior center fielder Taylor Ashby led the Tech offense with three hits and an RBI while freshman DH Scott LeJeune went 2-for-5 with an RBI to extend his current hit streak to four games.
Senior first baseman Chris Richburg hit safely in both games to extend his current hit streak to six games.
