Two-City Volleyball Road Trip Begins Wednesday

LUBBOCK, Texas - No need to unpack a bag this week as the Red Raider Volleyball team (0-2) heads to San Marcos for a match on Wednesday evening, Sept. 2, against Texas State at 6:30 p.m. before traveling to New Orleans to compete in the Radisson New Orleans Airport Privateer Invitational tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Texas State is 0-3 after weekend losses at the Tiger Invitational in Columbia, Mo. Head Coach Karen Chisum leads the reigning Southland Conference Champion Bobcats squad which will be playing their first home match of the 2009 season on Wednesday. Outside hitter Jessica Weynand earned all-tournament honors this past weekend, finishing with 34 kills and 22 digs. Tech is 16-3 all time vs. Texas State, but lost to the Bobcats most recently in 2008.
At the longest named tournament of the year for the Red Raiders, the team will face Southeastern Louisiana (0-3), Bowling Green State University (4-0) and the host, New Orleans (1-2).
Texas Tech's all-time record versus the squads at the tournament is as follows: Southeastern Louisiana (1-0), last having faced the Lady Lions during the 2000 season; BGSU and the Red Raiders never have met, introductions will ensue shortly before the match on Saturday; and New Orleans (2-1), having lost to the Privateers last season in Lubbock.
