Tech Loses Final Match at UNO

NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans (4-2) extended its home-court win streak to eight (dating back to last year) and remained undefeated as it claims the title in its own tournament by beating Texas Tech (1-5), 3-0, in volleyball action.
The Red Raiders played statistically well, but dug too many holes against a talented Privateers team and couldn't recover in any of its three sets, in fact fighting off six set points in the second set before succumbing.
Amanda Dowdy led the Red Raiders with nine kills and nine digs. Once again net play is a highlight of the 2009 squad as Tech continues to out-block opponents, this time, 9-4.
Tech next travels to Tulsa for its final non-conference matches of the season next weekend.
