Tech to Play in ITA National Team Indoor Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas - After winning its first two matches of the season last weekend, the No. 40 Texas Tech men's tennis team heads to Austin, Texas, for the first and second rounds of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
In their first round match, the Red Raiders will face No. 33 California on Sat., Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. The other first round match in Austin will be No. 56 Middle Tennessee State against host No. 8 Texas.
On Sun., Jan. 31, the two losing teams from Saturday's matches will play at 11 a.m., while the two winning teams will face-off at 2 p.m. with the winner advancing to the final 16 of the championship to be held on Feb. 12-15, in Charlottesville, Va., at the Boars Head Sports Club hosted the University of Virginia.
Entering the championship, the Red Raiders have three players with a 2-0 record in singles after last weekend's matches - No. 25 Raony Carvalho at the No. 1 position, No. 40 Gonzalo Escobar at No. 2 and Vitor Manzini at No. 5.
Tech's top two doubles teams also won their lone match last week with No. 19 Carvalho and Rafael Garcia winning at No. 1 and No. 35 Escobar and Andre Stabile at No. 2 against then No. 42 San Diego State.
