Texas Tech Begins Conference Play on Saturday

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders (12-2) travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma for Saturday's opening Big 12 Conference game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys (12-2).
The Red Raiders hold down the 22nd spot in this week's Associated Press rankings and are No. 27 in the ESPN/USA Today Poll.
Texas Tech wrapped up non-conference play last week with two wins and a loss. The Red Raiders dropped their December 29 game at No. 19/17 New Mexico before gaining home wins over McNeese State on New Year's Day and UTEP on January 3.
Texas Tech and UTEP each had four players in double figures in the 86-78 Red Raider win.
Miner Derrick Caracter led all scorers with 21 points. Randy Culpepper scored 16 points, Julyan Stone dropped in 12 points, and Arnett Moultrie added 11 points for UTEP.
John Roberson led Texas Tech in scoring with 18 points. Mike Singletary had 16 points and nine rebounds. D'walyn Roberts scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. David Tairu came off the bench to score 15 points.
In non-conference play, Oklahoma State was undefeated at home with an 8-0 record. On the road, the Cowboys lost at Tulsa and won at Stanford. OSU was 3-1 on neutral courts with a loss against Rhode Island on January 2, 63-59.
The Cowboys topped Coppin State at home in their final non-conference game on January 5, 79-61.
OSU's James Anderson led all scorers with 26 points. Keiton Page added 20 points and sank five three-pointers. Obi Muonelo posted 15 points. The Cowboys biggest lead was 22 points in the second half as 12 OSU players gained playing time.
The Cowboys are averaging 74.6 points per game and their defense is holding opponents to 62.6 points per outing.
James Anderson leads his team with 21.5 points per game. Obi Muonelo is scoring 12 points per contest. Marshall Moses had a one-game suspension against Coppin State and is averaging 11.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Keiton Page is posting 10.6 points each game.
Texas Tech is averaging 80.4 points per game for season and has three players posting double figures with Mike Singletary leading the squad with 15.8 points per game. John Roberson is averaging 13.9 points per game with David Tairu adding 12.2 points each game coming off the bench.
Saturday's game will be televised on the Texas Television Sports Network with TTSN airing the broadcast with the play-by-play delivered by OSU's Chad McKee.

The Red Raiders return to the United Spirit Arena as they host the Missouri Tigers on Wednesday, January 13 at 8 PM.
