LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team concluded its fall schedule Sunday with the final round of the Landfall Tradition where the Lady Raiders finished in 16th place after a 30-over 318.
Tech, which entered the day in a tie for 14th overall, received the best final round score from Deborah DeVilla who carded a 4-over 76 final round to tie with teammate Gabby Dominguez for the tournament. Dominguez, who was 4-over before Sunday's final round, recorded a 13-over 85 final round as the duo tied for 55th overall.
Paloma Martinez and Kim Kaufman both scored 7-over on the day with Martinez finishing a stroke below Kaufman overall as the freshman finished 18-over over three rounds. Kaufman finished 19-over for the tournament. Tech's final remaining player, Beverly Mendoza, fired a 12-over 84 to finish the tournament.
Tech's final round moved the Lady Raiders three strokes behind Florida State for 15th and 10 strokes behind Oklahoma State for 14th overall. UCLA overcame a second-round deficit to claim the tournament title with North Carolina earning the second-place crown.
The tournament was played at the Pete Dye Course in Wilmington, N.C. and fielded some of the toughest competition Tech will face all season as 16 of 18 teams entered advanced to an NCAA Regional last year.
The Lady Raiders are off from competitive play until traveling to the Lady Puerto Rico Classic midway through February. The three-day tournament will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is one of six tournaments Tech will play this spring to get ready for the Big 12 Championships, which will be held April 22-24 in Columbia, Mo.
